Technical Officer
FarmLink is seeking to employ a Technical Officer to be involved in the delivery of research, development and extension activities at Temora Agricultural Innovation Centre and supporting locations in the region.
The role will also provide day to day assistance in the delivery of the FarmLink trial operations and other commercial farming operations at TAIC. Tasks include:
irrigation;
infield trial implementation;
machinery operation;
soil sampling;
sample logistics; and
data capture.
The role may also include interaction with contractors, farm advisors and staff to deliver farming operations. The size of the FarmLink team means that whilst everyone has specific responsibilities, they are also expected to assist in other areas during busy times.
The successful candidate would ideally possess a:
High School Certificate (or equivalent); or
Certificate 111 in Agriculture from TAFE.
The successful applicant should desire to begin, or be in the process of undertaking, additional study in Agricultural Science or Management.
Operator experience in a mixed farm or grain production system is required, along with an understanding of field trial establishment, data collection and analysis; familiarity with and experience operating farm machinery; basic mechanical skills; computer skills (particularly excel desirable) and livestock handling experience.
Personal attributes should include attention to detail, well-developed verbal communication skills, self-motivated with ‘can do’ attitude, accountability, flexibility & ability to adapt to changing conditions, strong practical approach/common sense, ability to work independently while also being a team player and willingness, and demonstrated capacity, to learn. A current Australian Drivers licence is also essential.
